Sowing

Biennial, grown as an annual: for a longer season, sow indoors in pots and plant out when seedlings are 5cm tall. Outdoors, sow seeds sparingly 2cm deep in moisture-retentive soil leaving at least 30cm between rows.

Position in partial shade in warmer climes or in full sun in cooler areas. To avoid bolting in hot weather, harvest as young leaves.
